| ZNA decentralises recruitment Saturday, March 25, 2006 Herald Reporter THE Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) has for the first time decentralised recruitment of potential candidates for regular officer cadets to all military camps across the country in a move that will provide many graduates and school leavers with an opportunity to join the army. Director of army public relations, Lieutenant Colonel Simon Tsatsi yesterday said besides the decentralisation, the army was looking at potential candidates that had minimum university entry points at A-Level and good passes at O-level for recruitment. He said those who held diplomas or any higher qualifications must be aged below 24 years while A-level holders should be aged between 18 and 22. All the prospective candidates were required to be at least 1,7 metres tall and weighing at least 60 kilogrammes. "The ZNA will sponsor successful candidates to pursue studies in Medicine, Engineering, Accountancy, Dental Therapy, Pharmaceuticals and Physiotherapy once they complete an 18-month training programme at the Zimbabwe Military Academy in Gweru," said Lt Col Tsatsi in a statement. After the course, he said, candidates would be commissioned in the army as Second Lieutenants. Interested persons who qualify should submit their application letters in person at the nearest military camp before April 5, 2006. |
